Job summary

TipTopJob in Dorset is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager (Head of Engineering/ Maintenance Manager) to lead a skilled engineering team within a well-established manufacturing business. The role covers 39 hours per week on day shift and offers a salary up to £65,000 per annum depending on experience.

You will drive technical leadership, improve processes, lead CI initiatives, and report to senior management.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in engineering leadership roles (Engineering Manager/Head of Engineering/Senior Manufacturing Engineer).
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing process development and continuous improvement.
• A formal qualification such as an HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Production Engineering (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the Engineering team, managing priorities and workload.
• Provide technical leadership across the complete manufacturing process to resolve complex issues.
• Drive manufacturing engineering improvements to enhance quality, throughput and productivity.
• Lead Lean initiatives and root cause analyses with corrective actions.
• Act as the site’s senior engineering authority, approving changes and supporting reviews.
• Coordinate and deliver engineering projects from concept through implementation.

Are you an experienced Engineering Manager, Head of Engineering or Maintenance Manager seeking a new job?

We are recruiting for an experienced Engineering Manager to join a well:established and leading manufacturing business based in Dorset, this is working a day shift pattern (39 hours per week), and the role comes with an annual salary up to A GBP 65,000 per annum (DOE).

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Have

• Previous Engineering Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Lead Engineer or Senior Manufacturing Engineer experience, preferably a minimum of 10 years +.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing process development and continuous improvement.
• A formal qualification such as an HNC, HND, or Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Production Engineering (or equivalent), or someone who has completed an Engineering Apprenticeship.

What You Will Do

• Lead and mentor the Engineering team, managing priorities and engineering workload to keep projects moving.
• Provide technical leadership across the complete manufacturing process, supporting production to resolve complex issues.
• Drive manufacturing engineering improvements to enhance quality, throughput, and productivity across the site route.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean work and structured Root Cause Analysis with corrective actions.
• Act as the sites senior engineering authority, approving engineering changes and supporting concession or deviation reviews where needed.
• Coordinate and deliver engineering projects from concept through implementation, reporting progress to senior management.

What You Will Bring

• Previous experience as an Engineering Manager, Maintenance Manager, Lead Engineer, or Senior Manufacturing Engineer : ESSENTIAL
• A formal qualification such as an HNC, HND, or Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Production Engineering (or equivalent), or someone who has completed an Engineering Apprenticeship.
• A strong understanding of manufacturing process development and continuous improvement, with experience using structured problem:solving methods such as Root Cause Analysis and 8D.
• Proven knowledge of engineering drawings and an ability to translate technical requirements into real:world production outcomes.
• Experience leading engineering teams, with confidence supporting recruitment, training, and succession planning.
