Balfour Beatty plc is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the design and engineering management on the A66 NTP scheme based in Penrith, Cumbria. The role requires strong leadership of a multi-disciplinary team and robust design integration across development and construction phases.
The successful candidate will drive design coordination, ensure build-ability, and collaborate with Supply Chain, clients and designers to maximise project efficiency and safety.
Our Balfour Beatty Highways business has a fantastic opportunity for an Engineering Manager to join our team on the Highways A66 NTP Scheme. This role will be based at Penrith, Cumbria.

We provide high quality asset strategy, management and planning consultancy services to a wide range of public and private sector customers, offering specialist, reliable, sustainable and creative advice for asset management planning and implementation in the UK. We put our customers first and prioritise completing schemes safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Provide engineering and design management, strong leadership and control of a multi‑disciplinary team comprising engineering resources at project level.
Ensure full design integration between all design disciplines is achieved and assessed for all build‑ability aspects during both the development stage and construction stage of a scheme.
Facilitate strong links with other teams within and external to the project to ensure efficient delivery of the project.
Support the overall engineering strategy for the business and BB clients. Engage with the Supply Chain, Clients, Designers and other framework delivery partners to maximise knowledge sharing and provide efficiencies that assist the National Highways in achieving the National Highways Roads Delivery Programme.
Utilise engineering team specialists to provide on‑site training for new recruits and site engineers.
