Job summary

Burns Sheehan is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a growing SaaS scale-up's software engineers. The role combines hands-on technical guidance with people leadership, delivering modern, customer-facing software while fostering a culture of continuous learning.

You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and champion clean, scalable code and efficient delivery. Expect regular collaboration with product teams and a focus on engineering excellence.

Qualifications

• Experience leading software engineering teams in a fast-paced SaaS or product-focused environment.
• Background as a hands-on software engineer before moving into leadership.
• Excellent understanding of modern software architecture, clean code, SOLID principles and software design patterns.

Remote working – Manchester based office with monthly or quarterly visits

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to join a growing SaaS scale-up to lead a team of talented software engineers who are delivering modern, customer-facing SaaS products. This role will suit an Engineering Manager who enjoys combining deep technical expertise with a passion for developing engineers and building high-performing engineering teams.

You’ll play a key role in driving engineering excellence, ensuring high standards of software quality, improving team performance and fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration. Whilst your primary focus will be leadership, you’ll remain close enough to the technology to provide technical guidance, review architecture and code quality, and help solve complex engineering challenges.
