RTX Raytheon UK is seeking an Engineering Manager for Power & Test Equipment to lead a multi-disciplinary team and drive lifecycle support across power, CAS and test solutions. You will report to the Head of Engineering and partner with Programme Management, Operations and Quality to deliver safe, on-time and cost-effective outcomes.

The role requires senior leadership, strong systems engineering knowledge and the ability to navigate a matrix organisation while building a high‑performing culture

Overview

As Engineering Manager for Power & Test Equipment, you will lead a multi-disciplinary engineering function responsible for the development, delivery, and lifecycle support of industry-leading Power, CAS and Test Solutions. You will provide leadership across Projects, Systems, Electronics, Software, Mechanical Engineering and Test disciplines, ensuring the successful execution of engineering programmes from concept through deployment and in-service support. Working closely with Programme Management, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and Commercial teams, you will drive technical excellence, delivery performance, and engineering capability. A key member of the engineering leadership team in Scotland, you will regularly engage with and report to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Head of Engineering, providing clear visibility of programme status, risks, opportunities, resource requirements, and strategic capability needs. Success in this role depends on your ability to build, maintain and develop trusted relationships across the business and with our customers. Strong relationship management will be essential in understanding stakeholder needs, fostering collaboration, managing expectations, and creating alignment across diverse priorities. Working across Mission teams, functional leadership, programmes and external stakeholders, you will use professional influence, credibility and effective communication to strengthen partnerships, resolve challenges, and drive successful outcomes. As a senior leader, you will role model the behaviours and values expected of our engineering community, setting the standard for collaboration, accountability, customer focus, relationship management, and stakeholder engagement. Key Responsibilities

• Lead, develop and inspire a team of engineers and technical specialists across Power and Test Equipment product lines.


• Create an engaging, values-driven culture that promotes teamwork, ownership, inclusion, customer focus and engineering excellence.


• Provide clear leadership and direction, ensuring teams remain focused on safety, quality, delivery and business objectives.


• Act as the primary escalation point for technical, resource and programme challenges, driving timely and effective resolution.


• Represent Engineering at Senior Leadership Team reviews, providing concise reporting on programme health, risks, opportunities, resource demand and strategic priorities.


• Lead recruitment, retention, performance management and career development activities across the engineering team.


• Mentor and coach engineers, technical leads and emerging leaders, creating clear development pathways and supporting professional growth.


• Drive continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools and ways of working, improving efficiency, quality and predictability of delivery.


• Support the transition of products into manufacturing and ensure effective engineering support throughout the product lifecycle.


• Work collaboratively with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality and Service teams to optimise product performance, manufacturability and customer satisfaction.


• Contribute to engineering strategy, technology roadmaps and long-term organisational capability planning.


• Manage engineering budgets, resource allocation and investment priorities to maximise business value.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience leading engineering teams in the development and delivery of complex power, test, or mission-critical engineered products.


• Demonstrable success in building high-performing teams and creating a positive engineering culture aligned to organisational values.


• Experience operating as a leader within a matrix organisation, influencing stakeholders across multiple functions.


• Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, product development lifecycles and design assurance processes.


• Broad technical knowledge spanning Systems, Electronics, Software, Mechanical, Reliability and Manufacturing Engineering disciplines.


• Experience managing engineering resources across multiple concurrent projects and priorities.


• Strong leadership, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels including Senior Leadership Team and Executive stakeholders.


• Proven ability to coach, mentor and develop engineers, technical specialists and future leaders.


• Financial awareness and experience managing engineering budgets, forecasts and investment decisions.


• Desirable Experience within defence, aerospace, power systems, test equipment or other highly regulated industries.


• Knowledge of military, aerospace or industry-specific engineering standards.


• Experience leading organisational change and engineering transformation initiatives.
