Job summary

Morgan Sindall Infrastructure in Scotland is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Mechanical Services scope for a major Defence Nuclear infrastructure project.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will oversee engineering delivery from design through to handover within an operational nuclear facility, ensuring compliance with the Nuclear Safety Case and delivering works to the highest standards of safety, quality and performance.

Qualifications

  • Significant leadership experience in engineering roles.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams on complex projects.
  • Strong mechanical engineering background in highly regulated environments.
  • Experience delivering projects in compliance with nuclear safety requirements.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Degree-level qualification in an engineering discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering activities for Mechanical Services from design through commissioning and handover.
  • Manage design consultants, D&B subcontractors and project engineering teams.
  • Ensure all works comply with the Nuclear Safety Case and relevant regulations.
  • Represent the project’s engineering aspects to senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement across engineering delivery.
  • Oversee installation, commissioning and quality assurance processes.
  • Maintain relationships with Defence Infrastructure Organisation and other partners.
  • Support tendering and mobilisation activities as required.

We’re seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Mechanical Services scope for a major Defence Nuclear infrastructure project. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, this pivotal role oversees engineering delivery from design through to handover within an operational nuclear facility, ensuring compliance with the Nuclear Safety Case and delivering works to the highest standards of safety, quality and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage design consultants, D&B subcontractors and project engineering teams.
  • Ensure all works comply with the Nuclear Safety Case and relevant regulations.
  • Represent the project’s engineering aspects to senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement across engineering delivery.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Significant leadership experience in engineering roles.
  • Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex projects.
  • Strong background in Mechanical Engineering within highly regulated environments.
  • Experience delivering projects in compliance with nuclear safety requirements.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Degree‑level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status or equivalent.
Desirable
  • Previous experience on Defence Nuclear or similar high‑security projects.
  • Familiarity with collaborative working models, joint ventures and alliances.
  • Active membership in professional bodies such as the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
