Engineering Manager

Role Purpose: Serves as the Engineering Subject Matter Expert providing strategic oversight and operational leadership across the global account's engineering function. Responsible for ensuring consistent service delivery, operational excellence, and full regulatory compliance across all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Drives preventive maintenance programs to maximize uptime, manages procurement and contractor relationships, develops engineering talent through structured training programs, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement and technical ownership. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions while maintaining rigorous compliance standards and building engineering capability that reduces reliance on outsourced services.

What this job involves:

• Engineering Subject Matter Expert providing oversight and guidance to engineering managers and staff across the global account, ensuring consistent service delivery, operational excellence, and compliance with statutory and client requirements.
• Leading engineering operations aligned with organizational objectives, ensuring operational excellence and regulatory compliance through strategic oversight of HVAC, refrigeration, boiler systems, and all mechanical/electrical equipment.
• Driving preventive maintenance excellence, focusing on achieving uptime and maintaining optimal facility conditions.
• Managing operational procurement and inventory control, contractor coordination, and safety management.
• Ensuring regulatory compliance and documentation management, including maintaining current building drawings and compliance documentation per federal, state, and local regulations, along with mandatory health and safety training.
• Developing engineering talent through strategic staff management, hiring, training, and supervision of engineers and maintenance personnel. Develop ongoing training programs to consistently improve overall team skill levels.
• Building an engineering team that takes ownership and leads the client on improvements, with deeper technical knowledge in MEP/HVAC and chemical treatment.
• Fostering a team focused on details, continuously identifying observations and improvements, from following SOPs to improving systems architecture.
• Creating a team committed to continuous learning and improving technical capability, increasing the percentage of self-delivery versus outsourced service in both PM and CM work.
• Collaborating with Reliability Engineering, IFM Digital Operations, Engineering Solutions, and Work Dynamics teams to deliver integrated solutions and support client growth initiatives.
• Overseeing the annual Operational Compliance Program reviews, conducting audits across the portfolio to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Supporting transitions and onboarding of engineering teams and sites, facilitating technology workshops and training, and deploying processes, playbooks, and procedures.
• Engaging in strategic planning sessions, leading multi-property engineering integration, and managing vendor partnerships and technology implementation programs.
• Maintaining a strong focus on continuous improvement, benchmarking, and performance management to drive program and process enhancements.

Experience Requirements:

• 10+ years in facilities engineering management with demonstrated leadership of multi-site mechanical/electrical/plumbing operations
• Deep technical expertise in HVAC, refrigeration, boiler systems, and critical building infrastructure
• Proven track record developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs that achieve measurable uptime improvements
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory compliance requirements for commercial facilities
• Experience building and developing high-performing engineering teams, including hiring, training, and performance management
• Demonstrated ability to transition teams from outsourced service models to self-delivery operations
• Track record implementing operational compliance programs and conducting portfolio-wide audits
• Experience managing procurement, inventory control, and contractor/vendor partnerships
• Strong collaboration skills working across operations, digital technology, and reliability engineering functions
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field; relevant certifications (PE, CEM, CFM) strongly preferred
