Job summary

Dematic in the United Kingdom is seeking a hands-on maintenance technician to join a 24/7 engineering operation. You will respond to faults on automated material handling equipment, assist with preventative maintenance, and support technicians during breakdowns, working within Safe Systems of Work.

You will complete planned and reactive work orders, use maintenance software, and contribute to continuous improvement while promoting safety and teamwork on site.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 in Engineering, Construction, Maintenance or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience using hand tools and working with mechanical, electrical or technical equipment.
  • A practical understanding of mechanical, electrical or software-controlled systems.
  • Good IT skills and confidence using technology.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A strong commitment to Health & Safety.
  • The physical capability to work within a large, active operational environment.
  • Has a genuine interest in engineering and automation.
  • Is eager to learn and develop new technical skills.
  • Wants to progress and build a long-term engineering career.

Responsibilities

  • Providing first-line response to faults, blockages and issues across automated material handling equipment.
  • Assisting with planned preventative maintenance activities.
  • Supporting Maintenance Technicians during breakdowns and repair activities.
  • Completing planned and reactive work orders within agreed service levels.
  • Carrying out maintenance tasks under approved Safe Systems of Work, Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  • Resolving operational issues within agreed timescales to maintain service delivery.
  • Using maintenance systems and tools to support effective fault resolution.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Maintaining excellent relationships with customer teams on site.
  • Ensuring all activities are completed safely and in line with company procedures.
  • Contributing ideas to improve system performance, site efficiency and team effectiveness.
  • Rotating shift pattern covering days, nights and weekends.

This role operates within a 24/7 engineering operation and follows a rotating shift pattern covering days, nights and weekends.
