Job summary

Goldman Sachs’ Engineering team in the UK seeks a senior software engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable billing platform software and infrastructure. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver data feeds, APIs, and processing pipelines that support finance-focused solutions.

The role emphasizes hands-on development, architecture input, and strong data analytics to turn complex data into actionable insights while adhering to fast-paced project deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
• 7+ years of hands-on software development experience.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented skills and frameworks.
• Experience with producing scalable software designs.
• Experience in Spring, REST services, JMS, Hibernate/JPA, JSON is required.
• Experience working with databases like Sybase or MongoDB.
• Experience with designing/delivering messaging-based solutions (e.g. Kafka).
• Fast learner who can pick up existing applications (functionally & technically).
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet project deadlines.
• Strong sense of ownership, focus on quality, responsiveness, efficiency, and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Propose, design, and implement software solutions to enhance services and enable new business functions.
• Perform hands-on development; participate in architecture and design discussions, design reviews.
• Work closely with other engineering teams across the firm to develop data feeds, APIs, processing pipelines.
• Collaborate with the global user group to support and enhance applications to meet new requirements.
• Convert business requirements into technical specifications.
• Gather requirements and transform data needs into actionable insights for business decisions.
• Develop and maintain scalable dashboards, reports, and data visualizations.
• Provide technical support and troubleshoot data pipelines and transformations.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and data analytics best practices.
