Job summary

Assystem Bridgwater, in Bridgwater, England, is seeking an Engineering Lead on a contract basis to drive delivery of complex nuclear projects. You will lead contract meetings, resolve cross-disciplinary design issues and approve contractor outputs while coordinating multidisciplinary teams on site.

Based in Bridgwater with hybrid working (three days in the office, two from home), you will guide design evolution, manage risks and budgets, and liaise with stakeholders to ensure successful

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering or a scientific discipline is essential.
  • Strong understanding of construction, installation, H&S legislation and CDM.
  • Ability to apply multidisciplinary technical knowledge to validate designs.
  • Background in mechanical equipment, rotating machinery or steelwork is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead contract technical meetings and project coordination sessions.
  • Resolve technical queries and cross-disciplinary design issues.
  • Review and approve contractor deliverables and changes.
  • Manage contract technical evolution including exemptions and amendments.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to support contract delivery.
  • Interface with designers, client functions and stakeholders for system integration.
  • Oversee equipment qualification to meet contract progress and site needs.
  • Support Project Managers with planning, risk and budget control.
  • Report KPIs and progress to senior stakeholders.
  • Mentor engineers to strengthen the future team.

In the UK, we play a vital role in landmark projects such as Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C, and the development of SMRs, supporting the safe and efficient delivery of nuclear power infrastructure.

This position is based in Bridgwater with hybrid working (three days in the office, two from home). Relocation assistance is available for those moving closer to site.

Responsibilities
  • Lead contract technical meetings and attend project coordination sessions
  • Drive resolution of technical queries and cross-disciplinary design issues
  • Review and approve contractor deliverables and engineering design changes
  • Manage contract technical evolution, including exemptions and amendments
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams to support contract delivery
  • Liaise with Responsible Designers, client functions, and stakeholders to ensure integration of equipment and systems
  • Oversee qualification of equipment to align with contract progress and site needs
  • Support Project Managers with resource planning, risk management, and budget control
  • Report KPIs and progress updates to senior stakeholders
  • Mentor and guide less experienced engineers to strengthen your future team

  • Experience with change management and contract/deliverable management tools (UKDC, UKICM, OPM, CEMAR, Teamcenter)
  • Previous experience in contract management and document surveillance
  • Ability to influence stakeholders in a fast-paced, site-based environment
