Job summary

Saputo UK is seeking a Site Engineering Manager to lead a six-strong team across reactive and proactive maintenance, with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement and development of people, processes, and systems.

You will partner with production to deliver day-to-day operational improvements, coach engineers, manage budgets, and drive transformational projects using data-led strategies. The role offers an inclusive environment and clear progression paths.

Qualifications

• Educated and qualified in a relevant field with practical engineering experience in production/manufacturing.
• Experienced shop-floor team leader with mentoring and development experience.
• Proactive and preventative engineering practices demonstrated.
• Strong communicator with ability to influence senior stakeholders to deliver change.
• Experience leading CI projects and delivering culture change.
• Analytical thinker, data-driven, with planning and decision-making skills.
• Budgetary control skills, numerical aptitude, and familiarity with maintenance systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coordinate, and support maintenance across production, utilities, and facilities.
• Develop maintenance plans, PPMs, shutdown/start-up activities, and standards.
• Track reliability metrics including downtime, MTBF, MTTF, and compliance.
• Lead or support improvement projects on reliability, cost, safety, efficiency, and waste.
• Coach and develop engineers, support production leaders, and assist budgeting.
• Manage contractors on site with RAMS reviews and safe systems of work.

About the Role

This is a management position that will lead a team of six to focus on site engineering activity across reactive and proactive engineering requirements with a focus on continuous improvement and development for the team, and systems and controls. The role will be truly impactful for day-to-day operational improvements by partnering with production teams and leading on transformational projects. You’ll offer technical and people leadership, utilise data to improve strategies, and develop the engineering capabilities for the site.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading, coordinating, and supporting maintenance activities across production, utilities, and facilities to meet operational, safety, and efficiency needs
• Reviewing and developing maintenance plans, PPMs, shutdown/start-up activities, and engineering standards
• Tracking and reporting on reliability metrics including downtime, MTBF, MTTF, and maintenance compliance
• Leading or supporting improvement projects focused on reliability, cost reduction, safety, efficiency, and waste reduction
• Leading, coaching and developing engineering team members, supporting production team leaders and operational departments, and supporting finance with budget planning
• Managing contractors on site, including permits, RAMS review, safe systems of work, and auditing contractor activity

Qualifications

• Educated and qualified in a relevant field (apprenticeship to NHC level or equivalent) with relevant practical engineering experience within a production/manufacturing environment
• An experienced shop-floor focused team leader, supervisor, manager with demonstratable experience leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing engineering teams
• Able to demonstrate expertise with proactive and preventative practices
• A strong communicator with experience effectively influencing senior stakeholders to deliver change
• Experienced leading and delivering CI projects and delivering a culture change
• A strong analytical thinker, driven by data, with strong planning and decision-making skills
• Competent with budgetary control skills, have numerical aptitude, and good computer literacy (including use of maintenance management systems)
