Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with ground investigation work across Wales, South West, and nationally as required, under the direction of the Project Manager or other project staff. They should have experience and ability to undertake geotechnical interpretative ground investigation reports.

Person Specification:

• BSc degree in geology/earth sciences or a related environmental subject (essential).
• Previous UK ground investigation site experience and knowledge of employed techniques.
• Ability to log samples to BS 5930+A2 standards.
• Good knowledge of principal soil and rock strata in the UK.
• Understanding of geotechnical studies and soil mechanics basics.
• Ability to interpret geological maps and data.
• Understanding of water, ground, and soil gas monitoring techniques.
• Full UK driving licence (essential).
• Valid CSCS Card (company can facilitate if not held).
• Working towards chartership with the Geological Society or ICE.
• Excellent report writing skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to travel to different sites.

Responsibilities:

• Liaising with clients, supervisors, and subcontractors.
• Organising ground investigation works.
• Supervising drilling, trial pitting, and in-situ testing.
• Logging soil and rock samples and scheduling laboratory work.
• Processing and interpreting field and lab results.
• Writing factual and interpretative reports.
