Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd is recruiting an Engineering Geologist for their Glasgow office to work on infrastructure, commercial, residential and energy projects across Scotland and the UK.

You will supervise site investigations, log soils/rocks, and produce factual reports, with a mix of site and office work, and hybrid working arrangements.

Requirements include a degree in Engineering Geology or related field, UK driving licence, and relevant ground investigation experience.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering Geology or related field.
• Experience in ground investigations or engineering geology.
• Ability to supervise site investigations and subcontractors.
• Experience logging soil and rock per British Standards.
• Factual ground investigation reporting experience.
• Knowledge of geotechnical sampling, in-situ testing and lab scheduling.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Supervise ground investigations including rotary, cable percussion and window sampling.
• Log soil and rock per current British Standards.
• Oversee trial pitting, soakaway and in-situ testing.
• Produce factual ground investigation reports.
• Schedule and review geotechnical laboratory testing.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and the design team.
• Assist with geotechnical assessments and interpretation of ground conditions.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and to a high technical standard.

A leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is looking to recruit an Engineering Geologist to join its growing Glasgow office. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse range of infrastructure, commercial, residential and energy projects across Scotland and the wider UK, with a strong mix of site-based and office-based responsibilities.

Working alongside an experienced geotechnical team, you will be involved in all stages of ground investigation projects, from supervising site works through to factual reporting and providing technical support on geotechnical assessments.

Engineering Geologist Requirements:

• Degree in Engineering Geology, Geology, Earth Sciences or a related discipline.
• Previous experience within a ground investigation or engineering geology role.
• Confident supervising site investigations and subcontractors.
• Experienced in logging soil and rock to current British Standards.
• Factual ground investigation reporting experience.
• Knowledge of geotechnical sampling, in-situ testing and laboratory scheduling.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
