- London, GB - Hybrid (Remote and In Person)
We create living room experiences that are best when shared — allowing people to watch, listen, and play together. From Connected TV apps for streamers and major broadcasters to innovative interfaces for OTT platforms, we specialise in technology that brings people together at home.
We’re growing fast, with ~70 people today across London and Barcelona — and big ambitions for the years ahead. We’re already working with brands like the BBC, BritBox, ITV, Comcast and ATP Media, with more to come.
As we scale, we’re looking for an Engineering Director to lead our Engineering function into its next chapter — strengthening structure, standards, and leadership to consistently deliver quality at scale.
The Role
We’re looking for a thoughtful, strategic leader to take ownership of our Engineering function and help us scale without losing what makes our work — and our team — special. You’ll bring a deep understanding of delivery-focused engineering in an agency setting, and know how to lead a growing team with clarity, confidence, and care.
You’ll report to the Managing Director and oversee both the Head of Technology and an incoming Engineering Manager. Your focus will be ensuring Engineering consistently delivers high-quality work — across multiple projects, clients, and platforms — while strengthening engineering leadership at every level. A key part of this will be developing our senior engineers and Tech Steers to act as multipliers of performance, quality, and culture.
Until now, our Managing Director has lead the technology teams. With our next phase of growth underway, we’re creating this new role to bring in dedicated, strategic leadership to take it forward.
What you'll do
- Set the direction: Define and communicate a clear strategy for how the Engineering function scales — including team structure, technical leadership, and collaboration with other departments.
- Build and lead the team: Manage senior technical leaders. Develop a scalable model for line management, performance, and growth. Enable senior engineers and Tech Steers to lead effectively and support others.
- Own engineering delivery: Ensure the department is consistently equipped to deliver high-quality work — across multiple projects and teams — with the right standards, processes, and resourcing in place. Stay close to the team’s day-to-day reality — from onboarding new joiners to understanding how each project is running — and support engineers at all levels to do their best work.
- Partner with Technology: Work closely with our Head of Technology to embed architectural decisions, innovation, and R&D into everyday engineering practice.
- Support commercial planning: Lead Engineering’s input into pitches, estimates, and pre-sales discussions. Ensure realistic and sustainable solutions are scoped and staffed appropriately.
- Collaborate cross-functionally: Work closely with Delivery, Product, QA, and Design to ensure smooth collaboration and shared accountability for success.
- Represent FX externally: Contribute to technical thought leadership, events, or industry conversations that reinforce our reputation in the CTV space.
About You
You might not tick every box — and that’s okay. But here’s what we think will help you thrive:
Experience
- Have led technical teams in a fast-paced agency or consultancy setting
- 10+ years in engineering, including hands-on work and team leadership
- Experience managing managers — and scaling teams of 20+
- Comfortable setting standards and building scalable structures for team performance, development, and high-quality delivery
- Considerable experience leading Engineering across projects involving web-based CTV, OTT platforms, or video-focused front-end applications
- (Ideal) Experience leading teams and contributing to the building of OTT infrastructure
- (Ideal) Experience leading teams and contributing to the building of mobile platforms and native development technologies, such as Swift and Kotlin
Skills & Qualities
- Pragmatic and delivery-focused — understands the demands of project-based work and keeps things moving
- Invests in people — believes strong teams are built through support, structure, and trust
- Confident in engineering discussions — can support and challenge decisions with credibility, without ego
- Strong communicator with cross-functional instincts — builds alignment across technical and non-technical teams
- Stays connected to the whole team — understands what’s happening across projects and makes time for engineers at all levels
- Structured in approach — uses systems, process, and planning to enable others, not to control
- Thrives in a fast-paced, scaling environment — comfortable with ambiguity, curious about improvement, and willing to adapt
If you’re excited to build and lead an Engineering function in a scaling company — and want to help shape the future of living room technology — we’d love to hear from you.
