Job summary

ALSTOM Gruppe in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced engineering leader specializing in mechanical integration and subsystem engineering for whole-train design and installation. You will lead design and subsystem engineers, plan resources, and drive on-time delivery across UK and international projects.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience of Mechanical Design with subsystem engineering experience.
  • Significant experience in Railway products desirable.
  • Experience of team management.
  • Experienced in the full product design lifecycle from concept through testing and validation.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes in design.
  • Experienced CAD user, CATIA V5/V6 desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide management and technical leadership of design and subsystem engineers for vehicle interior design, integration and mechanical subsystems.
  • Plan workload, allocate resources and forecast to meet QCD commitments; escalate capacity or delivery risks as needed.
  • Regularly report to management and flag issues impacting team performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement of team performance for projects and programs; ensure on-time and right-first-time delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering processes and instructions and deploy problem-solving methods across interfaces.

Your future role

Join the team responsible for the development of future trains in the UK and abroad. We are looking for an experienced engineering leader who is an expert in mechanical integration and/or system engineering as applied to whole train, vehicle, installation,assemblyand detail level.

We’ll look to you for:
  • Management and technical leadership ofdesignand sub-systemengineersresponsible forvehicle interiordesign,integrationandmechanicalsub-systems.
  • Manageteamworkload planning, resource allocation, and forecasting to secure QCD commitments, includingtimelyescalation of capacity, skills, or delivery risks.
  • Regular reporting to management and alert in case of issueimpactingthe team performance
  • Continuous improvement of the team performance for project/program activities, on-timeand rightfirst-timedelivery
  • Compliance to Engineering processes & instructions
  • Deploying problem solving methodologies with necessary interfaces with other stakeholders
  • Supporting the team in the resolution of issues and challenging actions
  • Continuous improvement or Return on Experience management frompreviousprojects
  • People Management and Competency Development
  • Foster strong cross‑functional collaboration within the UK organisation and the globalmechanicalintegrationand sub-systemnetwork.
