Job Title: Engineering Delivery Manager (SC Cleared)

Location: United Kingdom - Manchester or Somerset(onsite/hybrid)

Security Clearance: Active SC Clearance (sole British national)

Engagement: Contract - Outside IR35

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Delivery Manager with a strong background as a hands‑on engineer (hardware, electronics or mechatronics) to lead the delivery of complex defence and high‑technology programmes. As the primary interface between engineering teams, stakeholders, Bid Managment and customers, you will ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality and safety standards-all within a secure, SC‑cleared environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Programme Leadership:

  • Define and drive project plans, milestones and budgets for multi‑disciplinary engineering teams.

  • Coordinate across hardware, electronics and mechatronics workstreams to ensure seamless integration and delivery.

• Stakeholder Management:

  • Serve as the principal point of contact for senior stakeholders, customers and suppliers.

  • Report progress, risks and mitigations clearly, leveraging your technical background to translate complex engineering concepts.

• Team Empowerment & Coaching:

  • Mentor and develop engineering leads, leveraging your own hands-on experience to guide best practices.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and technical excellence.

• Risk & Issue Management:

  • Identify technical, schedule and resource risks early; implement mitigation strategies.

  • Ensure strict adherence to safety, quality and configuration‑management processes.

• Process & Governance:

  • Establish robust delivery frameworks, tailoring Agile, V‑model or hybrid methodologies as appropriate.

  • Ensure compliance with internal governance, regulatory and security standards.

• Technical Advocacy:

  • Leverage your engineering pedigree to challenge designs, optimize system architectures and advocate for practical, buildable solutions.

  • Maintain credibility by occasionally rolling up your sleeves to troubleshoot or prototype when needed.

• Security Clearance:

  • Active SC Clearance (UK) and sole British nationality.

• Leadership & Communication:

  • Strong people‑management skills, with the ability to inspire engineers and build high‑performing teams.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, capable of engaging C‑suite stakeholders and technical teams alike.

• Methodologies & Tools:

  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum, V‑model, ISO 9001, DO‑178C/DO‑254 or equivalent standards.

  • Comfortable with project tools such as JIRA, MS Project Primavera P6 or similar.
