Job Opportunity: Engineering Delivery Manager

We have a unique opportunity for an Engineering Delivery Manager (no team handling) to oversee a work package within our Naval portfolio programmes at our Crawley site (3 days on site).

This role involves working on a challenging programme to introduce new technology to our major UK and overseas customers, covering all phases of the engineering lifecycle and collaborating with senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Identify and manage engineering activities using agile methods on a fast-paced programme to support business growth, coordinating with SW, HW, IVVQ, and Systems teams.
  2. Own technical delivery and the SEMP, managing schedules, metrics, risks, and assumptions.
  3. Collaborate with capability leadership to allocate technical resources effectively.
  4. Work with the Project Manager to understand and manage technical impacts on cost and schedule, including risks and contingency plans.
  5. Partner with the Programme Design Authority to provide technical leadership and exemplify team behaviors and practices.
  6. Provide accurate work package estimates balancing quality, compliance, and cost, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and budget.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Proven leadership of engineering teams in delivering successful programmes.
  • Experience in stakeholder collaboration and co-operative techniques.
  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering lifecycle activities, including PDR, CDR, PRR, TRR, and phases of design, development, and validation.
  • Experience presenting technical solutions and chairing design reviews with customers.
  • Commitment to excellence, integrity, accountability, and professionalism.
  • Willingness to travel to Thales sites (mainly Crawley & Green Park, Reading), suppliers, and customer locations.
Preferred Skills and Attributes
  • Experience establishing strong engineering governance and team practices.
  • Experience managing engineering work packages within JIRA.
  • Background in communications security.
  • Knowledge of Naval Communications, environmental qualification, safety, security, human factors, ILS, etc.
  • Experience managing senior stakeholders internally and externally.
Security Requirements

This role requires you to be a sole British National from birth and to attain Security Clearance (SC) without caveats. Preference will be given to candidates already holding clearance. Candidates must undergo, achieve, and maintain SC clearance before employment. Please consult the UKSV website for further guidance.

Additional Information
