Job summary

South Western Railway is seeking an Engineering Planning Clerk CO4 to support capacity studies and coordination with Network Rail and other TOCs. You will ensure timetabling, rolling stock diagramming, and traincrew requirements are considered throughout capacity analyses.

You will work to deadlines under the Major Possessions Planning Manager, upholding safety and environmental standards while contributing to efficient, customer-focused planning.

Qualifications

• Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
• Good knowledge of engineering access planning process, timetabling techniques, rolling stock diagramming and associated operational requirements, traincrew diagramming and the associated conditions of drivers and guards.
• Understand the nature of all subsections of train planning, how they interlink and impact on each other.
• A good knowledge of South Western Railway Geography.

Responsibilities

• Deliver capacity studies, coordinate with Network Rail, other TOCs and FOCs with agreed timescales as directed by the Major Possessions Planning Manager.
• Compile capacity studies to the agreed level of detail per specifications and the Capacity Study Matrix, meeting quality standards and timescales.
• Obtain key requirements from other operators and Network Rail.
• Identify and advise requirements for unusual movements in capacity studies.
• Track capacity studies from request to delivery, submission, sign-off to forming part of the Engineering Specification.
• Ensure effective provision of rolling stock and train crew is considered in capacity studies.
