Job summary

National Highways is recruiting an Engineering and Construction Assurance Manager for the Specialist Bridges Group based in Bristol. You will lead annual maintenance and inspection programmes, ensure safety, quality and timely delivery, and provide on-site assurance of contractor workmanship.

You will drive improvements, manage budgets and liaise with contractors, consultants and internal teams to uphold the standards that keep England's bridges safe and reliable.

Qualifications

• Experience leading an engineering/major structures team.
• Degree or HNC in an engineering discipline.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Proven project management experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage high-quality cyclical maintenance work plans aligned to goals, budget and SLAs.
• Lead delivery of the annual maintenance and inspection programme with on-site assurance of contractor work.
• Manage inspections and maintenance responses to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery and quality repairs.
• Liaise with Contractor, Consultants and National Highways staff in advisory/support roles as directed.
• Monitor health, safety and wellbeing of staff, contractor and supply chain to meet obligations.

About the job.

National Highways have an opportunity for an Engineering and Construction Assurance Manager to join our team in the Specialist Bridges Group based in Bristol. Your role will entail leading and developing annual programmes to include cyclical and reactive maintenance activities. You will also be overseeing and controlling the delivery of inspection, maintenance and repair works across the asset, ensuring all activities, whether routine or reactive, meet the required technical, quality and safety standards with a strong focus on customer service.

You will be required to drive as part of your role and you will need to have a full driving licence, with no more than 3 points, to be considered for this position.

• Develop and manage high quality cyclical maintenance work plans in line with agreed business goals, outcomes, budget and service level agreements.
• Lead effective delivery of the annual maintenance and inspection programme, and provide on site assurance of contractor workmanship and operations.
• Manage responses to inspections, reactive and planned maintenance, ensuring that all works are delivered on time and within budget through effective project and financial management. Oversee repair works to ensure they meet the required quality standards.
• Liaise with the Contractor, Consultants, National Highways staff and to represent the Company in an advisory or supportive role as directed.
• Manage and monitor the performance of staff, the Contractor and their supply chain in respect of health, safety and wellbeing ensuring they fulfil their personal and organisational obligations of both themselves and customers at all times.
