Job description

Role: Fixed Electrical Test Engineer

Location: Happy to consider candidates in and around the Northampton area. Home based with daily travel to client sites and we aim to minimise travel where possible and offer localised geographical areas.

Salary: Starting salary of £40,000 plus company car/ £4,250 car allowance and excellent benefits package

Role purpose: To operate independently and as a team member in carrying out high quality test and inspection examination of designated Electrical installations, operating with clear customer focus and driving optimal service delivery.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Operate in line with Bureau Veritas Core Values and Code of Ethics
  2. Fully utilize all operational systems available, ensuring accurate data is inputted and reflected
  3. Whilst acting as a fully integrated member of a national and regional team, retain independent and individual ownership and responsibility for all allocated inspection and technical activities.
  4. Ensure examinations and testing are carried out in set time scales in line with the planned schedule
  5. Formulate, produce and distribute inspection reports in a professional manner within daily timescales and service standards.
  6. Ensure you work in line with Bureau Veritas Health and Safety process and systems
  7. Safely Carry Out Electrical Safety Tests On Portable Appliances Within Our Customers Premises In Accordance With The Code Of Practice For In-Service Inspection And Testing Of Electrical Equipment And The Health & Safety @ Work Act 1974.
  8. Carry out inspections within agreed authorities and to inspection standards and record such activities in the methods set out by the company.
  9. Provide advice of a technical and legislative nature relevant to agreed authorities to clients other team members and external bodies as necessary.
  10. Provide, build and maintain excellent client relationships and ensure that all customer service standards are met.
  11. Work closely with Regional Planner to ensure the plan is completed on a daily basis, any change must be communicated to the planner
  12. Maintain an awareness of developments in standards and legislation affecting Electrical Installations, and support change as required.
  13. Act on behalf of the company, making full use of technical expertise, when required.
  14. Identify any possible business opportunities and advise all appropriate business areas.
  15. Work effectively with Area Managers and Regional Directors to ensure all Regions KPI’s are met

Experience & Skills Required:

  1. Relevant Electrical knowledge
  2. Previous experience in a similar role / timeserved apprentice holding their 18th edition
  3. Excellent communication skills with clients and colleagues, both written and verbal.
  4. Computer literate
  5. Good knowledge of market, industry trends, developments and changes in legislation. Knowledge of H&S requirements

Qualifications Required:

  1. 18th Edition regulations
  2. City & Guilds Part 1, 2 and 3 OR Level 3 City and Guilds 2365 Diploma electrical installation. (HNC desirable).
  3. Preferable City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/5 courses (or equivalent)
  4. Hold a current U.K. driving license.
  5. GCSE’s in Maths and English (or equivalent)
