Job summary

GKN Aerospace invites applications for a Senior Engineer - Materials & Special Processes in Gloucestershire. The role spans production support and technology programmes (approx.

50/50) across Bristol and our Global Technology Centre, with a focus on materials, tooling, part fabrication and assembly. You will lead robust process technologies, manage tests, and interface with customers and suppliers while delivering documentation and qualification reports.

Qualifications

• BSc /MSc in one of the following skill areas: Chemistry, Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering.
• Knowledge of or experience in composite materials (manufacturing processes, qualification, handling of production deviations).
• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience within an aerospace environment.
• Experience with quality systems, specifications and standards.
• Team player at all levels in the industrial environment, proactive attitude, but also capable of acting on an individual basis and reporting back to relevant parties within GKN.

Responsibilities

• Support operational and development programs to enable and deliver zero defect projects utilizing engineering and problem-solving skills.
• Accountable for delivering robust, manufacturing process technologies as applied to materials, tooling, part fabrication and assembly.
• Promote GKN's technical capability globally to the broader technical eco-system, including customers, suppliers and steering groups.
• Collect inputs related to a task and take it through an identified process to produce an output / deliverable adhering to quality and schedule requirements.
• Prepare and define tests/test plans; critically interpret and analyze test data, applying the outcome of tests for substantiation of specification changes.
