Job summary

SYSTRA in the United Kingdom is looking for an Engineer to work on a range of civil and structural design projects, contributing to outline and detailed designs within budgets and schedules. You will collaborate with a small team, interface with multiple disciplines, and support quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle.

You will assist senior engineers on bridge surveys, prepare reports, and develop professionally with SYSTRA's support for professional development.

Qualifications

• Experience of CDM and CSM regulations.
• Experience as a design engineer delivering a work package.
• Experience with MIDAS, SuperSTRESS or Autodesk Structural Bridge Design.
• Assist senior engineers on bridge surveys and reports.
• BEng/MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Graduate membership of ICE or IStructE.

Responsibilities

• Prepare outline and detailed design for multi or single disciplinary projects.
• Follow and check procedures during project delivery.
• Interface with other disciplines and external engineers to ensure multi-disciplinary design.
• Report progress updates to senior engineers and project management.
• Apply safety procedures throughout the design lifecycle.

Context

Act as Engineer on a variety of engineering, transportation and infrastructure design projects. Working within budgets, programmes and quality assurance, as part of a small team, in the delivery of client projects.

Missions/Main Duties

• Prepare outline and detailed design for multi or single disciplinary projects as required
• Follow and check procedures throughout project delivery
• Interface with other disciplines and 3rd parties / external Engineers to ensure a multi-disciplinary design is developed, if appropriate to project specifications
• Report updates to senior Engineers, technical leads and the project management team on project progress
• Apply procedures and systems to ensure the safety of staff and others affected by the operations of SYSTRA throughout design lifecycle
• Contribute to company-wide goals and business improvement
• Continue your own professional development with support from SYSTRA in line with your professional body.

Profile/Skills

• Experience / knowledge of CDM Regulations and CSM Regulations
• Experience of working as a design engineer under supervision with responsibilities for deliverables within a work package / project.
• Awareness and/or experience of working with at least one of the following bridge calculation software packages - MIDAS, Super STRESS, Autodesk Structural Bridge Design
• Duties will include accompanying more senior Engineers on bridge surveys and assisting in compiling reports and recommendations
• Degree (BEng/MEng) in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
• Graduate Membership of recognised professional body (e.g. ICE or IStructE)
