Job summary

SYSTRA UK & Ireland is seeking an Engineer to work on a range of engineering, transportation and infrastructure design projects. You will operate within budgets, programmes and QA as part of a small team delivering client projects.

Hybrid work is available. The role involves preparing designs, coordinating with disciplines, and supporting senior engineers on bridge surveys and reporting, while developing professionally with SYSTRA’s support.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of CDM and CSM regulations in project delivery.
• Experience as a design engineer working under supervision.
• Familiarity with bridge analysis software such as MIDAS, Super STRESS or Autodesk Structural Bridge Design.
• Experience assisting on bridge surveys and compiling reports/recommendations.
• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng/MEng).
• Graduate membership of a recognised professional body (ICE/IStructE).

Responsibilities

• Prepare outline and detailed designs for multi- or single-disciplinary projects.
• Follow and check procedures throughout project delivery.
• Interface with other disciplines and 3rd parties to ensure multi-disciplinary design.
• Report progress updates to senior engineers and project management.
• Apply safety procedures to protect staff and others during design lifecycle.
• Contribute to company-wide goals and business improvement.
• Pursue ongoing professional development with company support.

Context

Act as Engineer on a variety of engineering, transportation and infrastructure design projects. Working within budgets, programmes and quality assurance, as part of a small team, in the delivery of client projects.

Missions/Main Duties

• Prepare outline and detailed design for multi or single disciplinary projects as required
• Follow and check procedures throughout project delivery
• Interface with other disciplines and 3rd parties / external Engineers to ensure a multi-disciplinary design is developed, if appropriate to project specifications
• Report updates to senior Engineers, technical leads and the project management team on project progress
• Apply procedures and systems to ensure the safety of staff and others affected by the operations of SYSTRA throughout design lifecycle
• Contribute to company-wide goals and business improvement
• Continue your own professional development with support from SYSTRA in line with your professional body.

Profile/Skills

• Experience / knowledge of CDM Regulations and CSM Regulations
• Experience of working as a design engineer under supervision with responsibilities for deliverables within a work package / project.
• Awareness and/or experience of working with at least one of the following bridge calculation software packages - MIDAS, Super STRESS, Autodesk Structural Bridge Design
• Duties will include accompanying more senior Engineers on bridge surveys and assisting in compiling reports and recommendations
• Degree (BEng/MEng) in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
• Graduate Membership of recognised professional body (e.g. ICE or IStructE)
