Job summary

ABM is seeking a Fabric Engineer to maintain and repair the London Fire Brigade estate. You will perform carpentry, painting, plastering, glazing, tiling and handyman tasks on site, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

London-based mobile role with Mon-Fri, 40 hours weekly and a competitive salary. You will manage quotes, complete on-site paperwork, and follow risk assessments while supporting lifecycle replacements and fire door inspections.

Qualifications

  • Carpentry, painting and plastering skills for building repairs.
  • Locksmith-related qualifications or courses.
  • Additional trade qualifications in plumbing and mechanical work.
  • L8 awareness related to risk and safeguarding on site.
  • IPAF and PASMA certifications for equipment and access.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair the London Fire Brigade estate on site.
  • Follow health & safety policies, method statements and risk assessments.
  • Assist with standard maintenance across trades and document work.
  • Prepare quotes above thresholds for submission with accuracy.
  • Complete on-site paperwork and obtain customer signatures for invoicing.
  • Complete engineer worksheets with full details of plant needing work.
  • Identify lifecycle replacement requirements.
  • Conduct Fire Door inspections per SFG20 guidelines.
  • Carry out locksmith, tiling, glazing, plastering, painting and carpentry tasks.

LOCATION: Mobile (TW6)

SHIFT PATTERN: Mon- Fri, 40 hours per week

Responsibilities
  • You will be utilising your core skills as a Fabric Engineer to conduct vital Maintenance and repair to the London Fire Brigade estate.
  • Responsible for own Health & Safety on site and follow Method Statements and Risk Assessments as standard on all sites, highlighting specific requirements as required.
  • Assist with the completion of standard maintenance and repair within the Mechanical, Electrical & Building Fabric trades.
  • Provide accurate quotes above comprehensive threshold to an accurate standard for a quote submission.
  • Completing all necessary paperwork for the customer whilst on site and obtaining a customer’s signature to enable the job attended to be invoiced without any delays.
  • Completing engineer’s worksheet in full, giving full details of plant that requires additional work.
  • Identifying lifecycle replacement requirements.
  • Conduct Fire Door inspections in line with SFG20 requirements.
  • Conduct locksmith repair and replace requirements.
  • Conduct Tiling Repairs and new installations.
  • Glazing Repairs.
  • Plastering & Painting repairs/light installations.
  • General Carpentry/Handyman duties.

Health & Safety Responsibilities
  • Always follow Group and company policies and procedures.
  • Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment.
  • Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received.
  • Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and /or via your divisional incident reporting system.
