Job summary

Arriva London South Limited is looking for an experienced engineer to maintain and repair a fleet of buses across London. You’ll perform planned and preventative maintenance, diagnose faults and conduct repairs to the highest standards, ensuring DVSA compliance and service reliability.

The role offers on‑site work with opportunities for MOT support, training and career progression in a well‑established transport operator in the capital.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in vehicle maintenance or equivalent.
• 5+ years of hands-on maintenance experience welcomed if not formally qualified.
• PCV pre-employment medical may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned and preventative maintenance on a fleet of buses.
• Carry out fault diagnosis and reactive repairs.
• Ensure servicing, inspections, and repairs meet Arriva and DVSA standards.
• Assist with MOT preparation and maintenance campaigns.
• Improve bus reliability through proactive maintenance and diagnostics.

What We’re Looking For

• Relevant Qualifications: PSV, HGV, or light vehicle maintenance and repair (minimum NVQ Level 2 or equivalent). We’ll also consider candidates with 5+ years of relevant hands‑on experience if you’re not formally qualified.
• Full UK Driving License: Must have a valid UK driving license with no more than 6 points.
• PCV License: A PCV license is preferred, or you must be willing to obtain one.
• Medical Fitness: Ability to pass a PCV pre‑employment medical.
• Commitment to Quality: A passion for delivering safe, reliable, and high‑quality maintenance work.

Your Role

• Perform planned and preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, and reactive repairs on a fleet of commercial buses.
• Ensure that all vehicle servicing, inspections, and repairs meet Arriva and DVSA standards.
• Assist with MOT preparation, preventative maintenance campaigns, and quality checks.
