Job summary

UTAC is recruiting an Engine Test Technician for the Millbrook site in Bedford to support engine testing programs across durability, fuels, additives, and research on prototype hardware. You will work with the Engineering team to set up, run, and troubleshoot tests, contributing to powertrain development and emission reduction initiatives.

Role involves early/late shifts or day shifts, with a collaborative team culture.

Qualifications

• Strong health and safety awareness
• Good knowledge of gasoline and diesel engine fundamentals
• Understanding of engine support systems
• Experience working in a testing environment or hands-on engine experience
• Basic fabrication and mechanical skills
• Automotive fault diagnostics with a systematic approach

Responsibilities

• Contribute to engine/test piece palletisation and setup of instrumentation
• Validate basic engine running and fluid, fuel and boost conditioning systems
• Support customer test requirements in a test cell for development programs
• Identify and diagnose faults with engineering support to deliver solutions
• Carry out servicing and hardware changes
• Operate the test cell with automated and manual cycles
• Take ownership of test piece and equipment
• Liaise with staff, engineers and customers on technical matters
• Help reduce waste and improve efficiency
