Job summary

National Oceanography Centre (NOC) in the UK seeks an Engine Room Pet Officer to support Engineer Officers onboard RRS vessels. The role involves maintaining safety standards, cleanliness and engine room maintenance, while complying with complex marine procedures and regulatory requirements.

Successful candidates will have ENG1 certification, STCW safety training and relevant sea service. The position is permanent, full-time and based on UK maritime operations.

Qualifications

• Seafarer Medical Certificate (ENG1) without restrictions.
• STCW basic safety training.
• Passport with right to work in the UK.
• UK Discharge book.
• Engine Room Watch Certificate.
• Designated Security duties.
• Unrestricted worldwide travel.
• Experience onboard scientific research vessel or similar marine sector.

Responsibilities

• Support the Engineer Officers in maintaining safety, cleanliness and maintenance standards within the areas of responsibility.
• Assist with operation and maintenance of engine room equipment and systems.
• Participate in seagoing tours and expeditions as required by the ship's programme.
• Follow security and safety protocols and reporting procedures.
