Job summary

The Arthur Terry School is seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor to join our supportive and ambitious team. You will supervise classes in the absence of the usual classroom teacher, ensuring students complete the work provided and stay engaged with learning.

We value reliability, calm and proactive communication, and the ability to build positive relationships with students. You will work collaboratively with teachers and pastoral staff to support student progress and wellbeing across the school.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people in educational or similar settings.
• High expectations of behaviour, engagement and achievement.
• Ability to establish positive and professional relationships with students.
• Confident in managing groups and maintaining a calm, purposeful learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervising classes in the absence of the usual classroom teacher, ensuring students complete the work provided.
• Creating and maintaining a positive, calm and purposeful learning environment.
• Providing clear instructions and support to students to enable them to complete their learning independently.
• Managing classroom behaviour in line with the school's policies and expectations.
• Monitoring student engagement and progress and providing feedback to teaching staff where appropriate.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff and colleagues across the school to support student achievement and wellbeing.
