Job summary

TeacherActive Limited. is seeking a confident Cover Supervisor in Merthyr Tydfil to support teaching staff from November 2026. This full-time temporary post runs until February half term 2027 and pays £110 per day.

You will supervise KS3/KS4 classes, deliver pre-planned work, and help maintain a positive learning environment. The role requires prior experience in secondary schools, strong behaviour management, and the ability to adapt to different subjects and year groups while following lesson

Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a Cover Supervisor in a secondary school (essential).
• Excellent behaviour management and classroom supervision skills.
• The confidence to work across different subjects and year groups.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• A professional, reliable and adaptable approach.
• The ability to follow lesson plans and keep pupils focused on their learning.

Responsibilities

• Supervising secondary school classes during teacher absences.
• Delivering pre-planned lessons and ensuring pupils understand the tasks set.
• Maintaining a calm, structured and productive classroom environment.
• Managing behaviour effectively in accordance with school policies.
• Encouraging pupil participation and supporting independent learning.
• Communicating with teaching staff regarding pupil progress and behaviour.
