Job Details
  • Title: Engagement Worker
  • Location: Havering, based within the service. Note: this service does not have step-free access.
  • Salary: £27,000
  • Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Sunday. Shifts vary between 09:00 - 17:00 or 13:00 - 21:00 on a rota basis. Bank holiday work may be required.
About the Role

We are seeking an Engagement Worker for our residential service in Havering, a 25-bed, 24-hour facility supporting adults with complex needs in a supported accommodation setting. Your role will involve providing social contact, supporting residents' safety, health, tenancy sustainment, and financial independence. You will help residents develop skills for greater independence and assist with re-integration into the community. Our residents typically meet the following criteria:

  • Single, vulnerable, with multiple disadvantages including hospital discharges, substance use, and mental health issues
  • Street homeless with multiple disadvantages
  • Aged 18-55
  • Willing to reduce substance use and engage with treatment services

The role involves varied daily activities based on resident needs, including running activities, support sessions, external appointments, and in-house engagement.

About You

We seek someone passionate about helping others, challenging stigma, and making a difference. You should be a team player, effective communicator, compassionate, supportive, and able to build positive relationships. Key qualities include:

  • Knowledge of external opportunities like education, employment, and benefits
  • Experience with individuals with complex needs

  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of social marginalization related to personal challenges
