Job summary

Abbey Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Activities Assistant to join the Activities Group within the home. The role focuses on planning and running a weekly programme of activities for residents, supporting daily living tasks, and promoting wellbeing through engaging conversations and outings.

You will work closely with staff, families, and volunteers to tailor activities to individual needs, maintain records, and contribute to a stimulating, person-centred environment for residents.

Qualifications

• Experience caring for the Service User group.
• Knowledge and experience of working in the care sector.
• Good communication skills, including verbal and written skill.
• Consideration to safety following legal, regulatory and best practice guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Ensure appropriate activities and groups take place.
• Assist residents with daily living activities and personal tasks.
• Promote mental and physical activity through conversation, outings, reading, and hobbies.
• Keep rooms tidy and manage equipment; update records as needed.
• Record activities and assessments; use CareVision system where required.
• Liaise with key workers, attend meetings, and involve family/volunteers when appropriate.
• Provide one-to-one stimulation where possible and promote person-centred care.
• Develop life stories and assist in marketing/promoting the home; complete mandatory training.
