Job summary

Countryside Classroom in Bakewell, Derbyshire, is seeking an Engagement Ranger to help people connect with, enjoy and care for the Peak District National Park. You will be a visible, approachable presence in your area, providing advice, information and delivering engaging pop-up events that promote responsible access and appreciation of the landscape.

The role involves working outdoors in all weathers, including busy visitor locations, weekends and bank holidays.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience delivering public engagement, educational activities or events.
• Understanding of countryside access and responsible recreation.
• Practical experience delivering infrastructure repairs (gates, fences, signage).
• Full UK driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Engage with visitors and local communities to promote responsible access and enjoyment of the Peak District National Park.
• Deliver engaging pop-up events to help people understand and appreciate the Park’s qualities.
• Monitor rights of way and access land; identify issues affecting visitors or landscape.
• Provide advice and information to visitors; support nature conservation and responsible recreation.
• Work outdoors in all weathers; weekends and bank holidays as required; travel across designated area.
