Job summary

Midlands Net Zero Hub, hosted by Nottingham City Council, is seeking an Engagement Officer to support communications and marketing projects. The role reports to the Communications and Engagement Manager and focuses on delivering campaigns that advance Midlands Net Zero Hub objectives.

The ideal candidate will develop plans, build cross‑regional relationships, monitor sector trends and apply innovative, data‑driven approaches to communications and marketing, including ROI evaluation.

Qualifications

• Experience in communications and marketing plan development and delivery.
• Ability to build relationships across the Midlands.
• Knowledge of user-generated content, new technologies, and ROI evaluation.
• Experience with creative approaches to internal and external communications.

Contract Type: Fixed Term until March 2027

Working Hours: 37 hours per week

Worker Type: Hybrid Worker

Salary: Starting Salary is £33,673 (Level one) rising to £36,581 (Level four) per annum (pro rata for part-time)

About the Role

The Midlands Net Zero Hub is funded by The Department of Energy Security and Net Zero, and is hosted by Nottingham City Council.

The Engagement Officer role will be responsible for/proactively supporting the delivery of a number of communication and marketing projects, campaigns or on-going service marketing initiatives to support Midlands Net Zero Hub objectives.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Communications and Engagement Manager.

About You

The ideal candidate will:

• Support the Communications & Marketing in the development and delivery of communications and marketing plan/s and campaigns, offering creative and innovative ideas
• Form a key part of the Midlands Net Zero Hub team with responsibility for building relationships across the Midlands
• Keep up to date with key issues and developments and competitor analysis in all related communications and marketing activity, channels and e-marketing, particularly in relation to user generated content, new and emerging technologies to ensure the currency to ensure the council is at the cutting-edge of sector best practice, through benchmarking, monitoring and evaluation of effectiveness e.g. ROI.
• Knowledge/experience of a creative internal and external focused approach to communications and marketing of services and products with a good grasp of related processes and technique

This post is covered by the statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) (English Language Requirement for public sector workers) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English, is an essential requirement for the role.
