Job summary

Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an Engagement Mentoring Officer on a fixed-term basis until March 2028. The role focuses on engaging local residents to access employment and training, mentoring them through activities, and supporting progression into the labour market.

You will monitor outcomes, report on progression, and contribute to externally funded contracts aimed at moving residents closer to the labour market.

Qualifications

• IAG Level 3 or equivalent qualification is required.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in Post 16 Education/Learning and/or Employment and Skills.
• Experience in mentoring, coaching and managing a caseload.

Responsibilities

• Engage with Sandwell residents to access employment and training, supporting their career journey.
• Mentor and support residents within activities, training and/or workplace to progress on their career pathway.
• Monitor and report the progression of residents in their development; identify progression into employment.
• Work on externally funded contracts aimed at moving residents closer to the labour market.

• Monitor and report the progression of the Sandwell people in their own development.


• Identify progression into employment following support Work on externally funded contracts that aim to move residents closer to the labour market

Essential Requirements

• Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) Level 3 or equivalent.


• A minimum of 2-years’ experience of working within the Post 16 Education and Learning and/or Employment and Skills Area


• Mentoring, coaching support and managing a caseload.
