Job summary

Dorset Council is hiring for a community engagement role with LiveWell Dorset. The post focuses on promoting health services, delivering BP checks, and supporting NHS Health Checks with full training provided. The role works across Weymouth and local communities, both in person and online, to encourage healthier lifestyles.

Hours are 37 per week (Tue–Sat). There is a part-time option at 18.5 hours. Training will be provided for NHS Health Checks and related IT systems.

Responsibilities

• Represent LiveWell Dorset at Weymouth hub and in the community, promoting the service.
• Deliver health interventions, including blood pressure checks, with tailored guidance.
• Engage with individuals and groups face-to-face and virtually, delivering talks and workshops.
• Collaborate with the Training and Engagement Team to support strategic objectives.
• Support delivery of NHS Health Checks, with training provided.
• Maintain accurate records and reports using a range of IT systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent LiveWell Dorset at our Weymouth hub and throughout the local community, promoting the service and increasing awareness.
• Deliver health interventions, including blood pressure checks, and provide tailored advice and support to encourage healthier lifestyle choices.
• Engage with individuals and groups both face-to-face and virtually, delivering presentations and workshops to charities, community organisations, and underrepresented groups.
• Work collaboratively with the Training and Engagement Team to support the delivery of strategic objectives and engagement initiatives.
• Support the delivery of NHS Health Checks, with full training provided.
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and administrative processes using a range of IT systems.

Requirements

• GCSEs (Grade A-C / 4-9) in English and Maths, or equivalent qualifications.
• Strong literacy, numeracy, and IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office applications and databases.
• Previous experience in health promotion, community engagement, or providing one-to-one support.
• A proven ability to influence positive change within community settings.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage a wide range of audiences.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise, and manage competing demands effectively.
• A Level 2 Understanding Health Improvement qualification (or equivalent).

Additional Information

Working hours will be scheduled between Tuesday and Saturday. Full-time hours are 37 per week, although 18.5 hours per week will be considered for part-time applicants. Training will be provided for aspects of the role, including the delivery of NHS Health Checks.
