Job summary

Trowers & Hamlins in London seeks an Associate in Energy and Sustainability to advise developers, landlords and operators on heat networks, energy projects and related contracts. The role covers regulatory issues, procurement, and innovative structures within a leading energy practice.

You will build client relationships, contribute to market profile, and work closely with cross-functional teams across energy, real estate, planning and finance.

Qualifications

• Up to 4 years' post-qualification experience from a reputable firm or in-house.
• Experience in an energy, projects or other equivalent commercial department.
• Experience on regulatory issues relating to utilities.
• Experience reviewing energy projects and/or complex commercial transactions; heat network experience beneficial.
• Excellent technical skills and attention to detail.
• Strong client focus and ability to build client relationships.
• Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
• Ability to deal with innovative structures and bespoke documents.
• Drive, enthusiasm, and collaborative approach.
• Commercial awareness.
• Excellent academic record.

Responsibilities

• Advise on heat networks procurement, negotiation and management (including concessions, supply agreements and regulatory compliance).
• Advise on energy projects (solar, wind, battery storage).
• Advise on large-scale retrofit programmes (grant funded, Energy as a Service, subscriptions).
• Advise on microgrids and private wire arrangements.
• Support on regulatory issues relating to electricity and heat networks.
• Advise on utility connections including ICP and IDNO arrangements.
• Advise on Power Purchase Agreements, Heat Supply Agreements and other energy contracts.
• Advise on EV Chargepoints and related infrastructure.
• Participate in marketing and business development initiatives relevant to energy sector.
• Build and maintain client relationships and contribute to the team's market profile.
