Job summary

Murphy is recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to work with Energy on a new substation project out of our Kentish Town office.

You will be responsible for commercial reporting, valuations and procurement activities within a dynamic team, ensuring robust cost control and timely final accounts. The role requires NEC contract knowledge, strong measurement skills and ongoing RICS progression. Murphy offers a competitive package with strong development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a commercial role (Assistant QS or QS).
• Registered with RICS / ICES and working towards chartership.
• Excellent knowledge of NEC contracts and Standard Methods of Measurement.

Responsibilities

• Prepare valuations/applications for payment with full documentation in accordance with the contract.
• Control of cost reports to the client with contractually compliant documentation.
• Preparation and management of subcontract and material procurement schedules.
• Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring, and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts.
• Undertake the contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers.
• Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change.
• Measurement of quantities in accordance with the standard methods of measurement as required.
• Assist in the preparation of project final accounts.
• Drafting of subcontracts including professional services.
