Job summary

Optimised is seeking a Building Performance Analyst to blend building services knowledge with data analysis. You will identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, using energy platforms and data insights to deliver meaningful recommendations and measurable impact for clients.

You will help develop monitoring capabilities, support ESOS and Heat Network Regulations work, and collaborate across teams to enhance reporting and client outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience in energy management and building performance with hands-on data interpretation.
• Experience with energy platforms and building analytics in client-facing context.
• Strong data analytics with large energy datasets and clear outputs.
• Basic coding ability in Python/SQL and willingness to develop.
• Experience with Power BI or similar visualization tools.
• Ability to translate engineering context to data insights for clients.

About the role

As our Building Performance Analyst, you'll combine building services knowledge with data analysis to help clients improve the performance of their buildings, reduce energy consumption and lower carbon emissions. Working at the intersection of engineering and analytics, you'll use energy performance platforms and data insights to identify opportunities for improvement, deliver meaningful recommendations and demonstrate the measurable impact of our services.

You'll play a key role in developing our building performance monitoring capabilities, supporting the delivery of technical consultancy services such as ESOS and Heat Network Regulations, and working closely with colleagues across the business to enhance reporting, analytics and client outcomes. This is a varied role that offers the opportunity to combine technical expertise, client engagement and data-driven problem solving while helping to shape the future of our energy performance services.

Job requirements

• Demonstrable experience in energy management, building performance or a related discipline, with a practical understanding of how buildings, assets and systems operate and how that performance is reflected in energy data.
• Experience working with energy performance, exception monitoring or building analytics platforms, with the ability to configure, manage and develop platform services in a client-facing environment.
• Strong data analytical capability, including experience working with complex energy data sets, developing analytical models and producing clear and meaningful outputs from large volumes of data.
• Basic coding ability in Python, SQL or equivalent, with a willingness to develop these skills further and apply them to the development of analytical tools, data models and automated processes.
• Experience using data visualisation tools such as Power BI or equivalent, with the ability to build and maintain meaningful visual outputs that communicate data insights clearly and effectively.
• A genuine understanding of how engineering principles and real-world building performance translate into data patterns, anomalies and opportunities, with the ability to move between engineering context and data analysis fluidly.
• Experience managing client relationships independently, with the ability to act as a primary point of contact, handle queries and present findings confidently to a range of audiences.
• Good communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical and analytical findings into clear, accessible and actionable outputs for clients and colleagues.
• Familiarity with Measurement and Verification principles, including IPMVP or equivalent approaches to quantifying energy savings, with the ability to apply these in a practical client-facing context.
• A proactive, curious and self-motivated approach, with the ability to work independently across a range of responsibilities and adapt to the evolving needs of the division.

Job responsibilities

• Take ownership of our energy performance and monitoring platforms (including Bueno), ensuring they're configured effectively, delivering meaningful insights and providing an excellent experience for clients.
• Build strong relationships with clients, acting as their trusted point of contact, interpreting energy performance data, managing queries and demonstrating the value of our services through clear, impactful reporting.
• Turn complex building and energy data into actionable insights, combining engineering knowledge with analytics to identify opportunities for improved energy efficiency, reduced carbon emissions and lower operating costs.
• Develop and enhance reporting, data models and measurement and verification (M&V) methodologies, helping clients clearly understand the impact of energy-saving initiatives and supporting the evolution of our analytical capabilities.
• Support the delivery of technical energy consultancy projects, including ESOS assessments, Heat Network Regulations compliance and other energy management programmes, working independently and collaboratively across the division.
• Work closely with our Energy Analysis, Technology and Consultancy teams to improve processes, automate reporting and explore innovative ways to use data and AI to enhance productivity and client outcomes.
• Champion data quality, ensuring analytical outputs are accurate, reliable and underpinned by a strong understanding of how buildings and their systems perform in the real world.
• Maintain high standards of Health & Safety, ensuring safe working practices during client site visits, surveys and consultancy activities.
