Job summary

ExxonMobil invites applications for a 2027 Placement Programme in Global Trading. You will join the Quantitative Analytics team in London for 3 to 6 months, working closely with traders and analysts on day-to-day activities to support trading, commercial and project studies.

You will learn from Senior Front-Office Quants, develop pricing models, and present results to trading desks. Requirements include Masters/PhD in relevant fields and programming proficiency in Python/Java/C++/C.

Qualifications

• Penultimate or final year of your Masters or PhD in Mathematical Finance, Computational Finance, Financial Engineering, or similar.
• Strong understanding of option theory, stochastic calculus and option Greeks.
• Familiar with AI/Machine Learning and Neural Networks.
• Knowledge of Monte-Carlo simulations, stochastic dynamic programming and high-dimension optimizations.
• Fluent in Python, Java, C++, or C.
• Seeking a paid 3– to 6-month placement with start dates from April 2027.
• Outstanding analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and interest in energy commodity markets.

Responsibilities

• Develop understanding of energy commodity markets.
• Support market-based valuations of physical assets and structured deals.
• Develop quantitative derivatives pricing models and test performance across regions.
• Deliver presentations to Trading desks and Quantitative Analytics teams on new models.
