Job description

The suitably experienced and qualified professional will work as part of a multi-disciplinary Estates & Facilities team across the GOSH estate. The role involves working closely with teams within the Space & Place directorate, including Estate, Facilities, and Capital Projects, with a focus on carbon emission reduction, innovation, and energy efficiency.

This role covers a broad range of energy and sustainability areas, ensuring the organisation achieves best practice and value for money. The candidate will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME), supporting the formulation and delivery of objectives for the directorate and the wider trust.

Role

The role involves working within diverse healthcare premises and systems, delivering on various workstreams including:

  1. Management and reporting of utility usage and costs
  2. Energy reduction projects
  3. Environmental surveys
  4. Providing energy forecasting
  5. Management of energy generating plant, including boiler plants
  6. Management of DHWS & CWS systems
  7. Ventilation plant oversight
  8. Air conditioning and refrigeration systems
  9. Support for BMS control systems, advising on efficient operation and maintaining the Trust’s temperature policy
  10. Supporting the sustainability agenda and Net Zero emissions targets, ensuring compliance with statutory and mandatory performance and reporting requirements such as CHPQA, UK-ETS, Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, and others
  11. Managing relationships with procurement agencies like Crown Commercial Services for energy procurement and forecasting costs
  12. Monitoring and managing the Utilities budgets, including electricity, gas, water, and compliance costs
  13. Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety requirements across all areas
  14. Establishing effective communication and maintaining confidentiality
  15. Demonstrating leadership and expertise, maintaining credibility within the division, healthcare community, and external agencies to uphold the Trust’s positive image
