Job summary

J. Murphy & Sons Limited. is recruiting for a commercial-focused role (Assistant Quantity Surveyor) to support income, costs, procurement and final accounts. You will work from Holton St Mary, Colchester, with duties spanning valuations, subcontract administration and risk management.

Successful candidates will hold an HND/Degree and be registered with RICS/ICES or working towards chartership, with experience in NEC forms and standard methods of measurement.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a commercial role (Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor or similar).
• Registered with RICS/ICES and working towards chartership.
• Excellent knowledge of NEC forms and standard methods of measurement.

Responsibilities

• Aid in internal commercial reporting and any required reports.
• Prepare valuations/payments with full documentation per contract.
• Control cost reports to client with contractually compliant documents.
• Prepare and manage subcontract and material procurement schedules.
• Administer subcontractor/supplier accounts from requisitions to final accounts.
• Undertake contract administration including change management and registers.
• Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change.
• Use cost allocation/coding to satisfy internal and external needs.
• Measure quantities as per standard methods of measurement.
• Assist in preparing project final accounts.
• Draft subcontracts including professional services.
