Want to join a leading international, independent real estate consultancy with a different approach?


Due to growth and new service development, we are seeking an Energy Engineer to join our Operational Engineering team, working alongside our FM Consultancy engineers. The role is based in our London office opposite St Paul's, covering various engineering consultancy projects across building sectors.


We recently launched our Building Optimisation service, integrated with our client portal. We seek an experienced Engineer to support its rollout, including pitching to clients, delivering energy savings, and maintaining client relationships to cross-sell services.


The aim is to improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions, and help clients meet sustainability targets. The role combines technical expertise, analytical skills, and client communication to achieve measurable improvements in sectors like commercial, industrial, residential, and retail/leisure.


As part of Hollis' Operational Engineering team, you'll gain exposure to MEP and FM consultancy, working on unique projects with innovative colleagues. Hollis is CIBSE accredited and offers support for engineers pursuing chartership and professional growth.


You will have ownership of this role and contribute to the growth of this new service line, with support for career development and mentoring junior engineers.


Responsibilities
  • Support the rollout of Building Optimisation.
  • Conduct energy audits and building performance assessments.
  • Analyze data to identify energy-saving opportunities.
  • Develop and implement energy conservation measures.
  • Advise clients on retrofit opportunities and low-carbon technologies.
  • Support commissioning and tuning of building systems.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Create technical reports, business cases, and presentations.
  • Ensure compliance with standards and support ESG reporting.
  • Monitor post-implementation results.
  • Assist in managing maintenance projects.

Extended responsibilities
  • Produce technical due diligence reports.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance CAPEX reports.
  • Manage projects and lead as needed.
  • Support maintenance-led projects and client satisfaction.
  • Contribute to innovation and service improvement.
  • Support wider teams with technical and management duties.
  • Meet KPIs on WIP management.
  • Engage in business development and client care.
  • Mentor graduates and junior engineers.

Your Profile & Experience
  • Engineering degree with building services modules or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in building optimisation, energy consulting, or performance engineering.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, BMS, physics, and low-carbon tech.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (CIBSE, CREEM, GREEB).
  • Understanding of UK & Ireland building regulations and Net Zero/ESG goals.
  • Strong report writing and communication skills.
  • Client-facing experience with excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of MS Projects, IES, MBS advantageous.
  • Understanding of JCT, NEC, Bluebeam, AutoCAD beneficial.
