About the Role

The Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to step into a high-impact role at the heart of EDF’s strategy for a net zero future. As a Senior Analyst in our Energy Economics team – part of the influential Net Zero Strategy & Policy division – you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping EDF’s strategic direction through deep, insightful analysis of the evolving energy market.

While the Energy Economics team covers both market analysis and modelling, this role will have a specific focus on long-term power market modelling – developing, maintaining and applying sophisticated models to produce strategic insight that supports key business decisions.

You’ll take ownership of EDF’s long-term power market modelling for Great Britain and Ireland, designing and maintaining sophisticated tools to deliver forward-looking, strategic insights. Your work will be critical to informing investment decisions, identifying market risks and opportunities, and helping to shape the future policy and regulatory environment.

This role places you at the intersection of market insight, policy, and business strategy, offering broad exposure across the industry and collaboration with talented colleagues across EDF Group. You’ll have the opportunity to grow your expertise and continue your development as a thought leader in the energy transition.

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a competitive starting salary and a market-leading pension scheme, we offer a range of flexible benefits to support our people across all aspects of their lives.

Your rewards package includes a choice of benefits, such as electric vehicle leasing, enhanced parental leave, health insurance, discounts, and employee pricing.

Flexible working means you can work from home (if you wish) and we’ll provide a suite of IT equipment to ensure that you can work remotely comfortably and effectively.

At EDF, everyone’s welcome. We strive to create an inclusive and diverse environment where everyone has a voice and where you feel confident being yourself. We’re committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application, making adjustments as you need.

We’ll value the difference you bring and offer opportunities for you to thrive and succeed.

What you’ll be doing

As an Energy Economics Senior Analyst, you will:

  • Lead EDF’s long-term power market modelling for Great Britain and Irish markets, using commercial software to deliver robust, data-driven insights.
  • Design, implement and maintain analytical tools that enhance EDF’s market intelligence and modelling capabilities.
  • Develop forward-looking scenarios, ensuring quantitative coherence across EDF Group, and directly influencing strategic and investment decisions.
  • Provide high-quality analysis to support key projects, shape policy discussions, and strengthen EDF’s understanding of market risks and opportunities.
  • Build credibility as a trusted advisor to stakeholders across EDF.
  • Stay ahead of regulatory, technological, and competitive developments across UK electricity and connected markets, identifying strategic risks and emerging trends.
  • Operate with autonomy and initiative, responding flexibly to evolving business needs and strategic priorities, mentoring team members, and strengthening the team’s capabilities.
  • Present clear, actionable insights to senior stakeholders.
  • Challenge and review complex analysis, ensuring rigour, robustness and strategic relevance in all outputs.

Who you are

You are a curious, driven, and insightful thinker who thrives in complex, fast-evolving environments. You combine analytical excellence with strategic vision to make a real impact.

You’ll bring:

  • Energy market expertise – a strong understanding of the UK power sector or similar markets, with a passion for diving deeper into the energy transition.
  • Analytical and modelling skills – proven experience developing and applying power market models and/or using programming languages like Python or VBA.
  • Strategic problem-solving ability – a proactive, innovative approach to tackling complex issues and shaping smarter solutions.
  • Adaptability and initiative – comfortable navigating shifting priorities, taking ownership, anticipating needs, and shaping the direction of projects.
  • Collaboration and communication skills – you work seamlessly with others, but are equally confident operating independently. You articulate complex ideas clearly and effectively to technical and non-technical audiences alike.
  • Attention to detail – you produce accurate, high-quality work built to withstand scrutiny, and confidently review and challenge others’ assumptions and outputs.
  • Forward-thinking mindset – you spot trends before others do, challenge the status quo, and look for new, better ways to work.
  • Outcome focus – organised, proactive and accountable, you consistently deliver high-quality results that inform better decisions and support EDF’s strategic goals.

Location: We encourage our teams to work as flexibly as possible. With that being said, we do like our teams to come into our London office, Nova North on a weekly basis to collaborate, share ideas and work inclusively.

Success is personal. It's your journey, powered by us. Join us and we'll help Britain achieve Net Zero together.
