Working within the Energetics and Materials Team, you will be responsible for researching, developing, and manufacturing materials and products to meet demanding physical, chemical, thermal, mechanical, and ballistic requirements under extreme conditions of temperature, pressure, and vibration.

The role involves attending specialist training courses and conferences to develop expertise, alongside on-the-job training to acquire necessary skills and competencies.

Technical Responsibilities - Energetics Chemist

  • Developing and monitoring propellants to meet energy, mechanical, and ballistic requirements.
  • Improving, standardising, and driving efficiencies in manufacturing processes.
  • Qualifying propellants and materials according to defence and internal standards.
  • Managing materials (stocks, quality, performance, legislation) to meet strict design requirements.
  • Supporting and improving manufacturing processes.
  • Qualifying ingredients and finished materials for manufacturing.
  • Researching and testing materials using known and novel processing methods, including mixing technology.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Chemistry.
  • Interest and aptitude in chemistry/material science, with high motivation.
  • Practical experience in a disciplined/technical manufacturing, process, or lab environment.
