Working within the Energetics and Materials Team, you will be responsible for the research, development, clearance, and manufacture of materials and products to meet demanding requirements.

These include physical, chemical, thermal, mechanical, and ballistic properties under extreme conditions of temperature, pressure, and vibration.

Given the nature of the role, candidates may not have knowledge in all aspects. Therefore, the successful candidate will attend specialist training courses and conferences, alongside on-the-job training to develop necessary skills and competencies.

Technical Responsibilities - Energetics Chemist

• Developing and monitoring propellant to meet energy, mechanical, and ballistic requirements.
• Improving, driving efficiencies, and standardizing manufacturing processes.
• Qualifying propellant and materials according to defense and internal standards.
• Managing materials (stocks, quality, performance, legislation) to meet strict design requirements.
• Supporting, monitoring, and improving manufacturing processes.
• Qualifying materials in line with standards.
• Clearing ingredients and finished materials for manufacturing.
• Researching and testing materials using known and novel processing methods, including mixing technology.

Requirements:

• Degree in Chemistry.
• Interest and aptitude in chemistry/material science, with high self-motivation.
• Practical experience in a disciplined/technical manufacturing, process, or lab environment.
