An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Booking Coordinator within the Endoscopy Department at Swansea Bay University Health Board. The position is primarily based at Singleton Hospital, with occasional cover required at the other two units located at Neath Port Talbot Hospital and Morriston Hospital.
The successful candidate will join a team dedicated to delivering a high-quality service to patients and service users. The Endoscopy booking team is responsible for providing an efficient, patient-centred service, including referral management, appointment scheduling, and waitlist coordination.
The post holder should demonstrate the ability to work independently and possess strong communication and organisational skills. They will support the Service Support Manager in the efficient day-to-day operations of the department, including coordinating and planning appropriate staffing coverage for all team roles. Additionally, they will ensure that all tasks are completed to the required standards and in compliance with Health Board policies.
Booking Patients for an Endoscopy Procedure along with undertaking a telephone Pre-Assessment and communicating any issues withthe MDT.
Ensuring patients selected for admission are contacted in accordance with the Waiting List Policy
Cover Reception as required
Adhere to Swansea Bay Health Board RTT and cancer pathways
Troubleshooting endoscopy session issues with multidisciplinary teams
Liaise with Morriston Cardiac team regarding pacemaker and defibrillator patients
Regular validation of endoscopy referrals
Liaise with outside agencies i.e. prison, language line etc.
Liaise closely with key staff including Consultant Medical Staff, Medical Secretaries, Clinical Service Managers, Day Surgery Unit and Ward staff, Pre-Assessment staff and Information staff.
Liaise with Bowel Screening services
Ensure Endoscopy capacity is fully utilized, use knowledge to prioritize patient's pathway.
Pre-Assessment of patients, establishing any medical conditions that may affect Endoscopy procedure and ensure safe discharge arrangements are made, informing Medical and nursing teams if you have assessed any problems.
Carry out audits as Requested and Activity Data
Ensure waiting list validation is carried out on an on-going basis.
Ensuring patients are managed in accordance with the HB Booking Policy.
