Job summary

Think Accountancy and Finance is seeking a Payroll Manager in Hull for a temporary, full-time role. You will own the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accurate, timely pay and compliance with UK regulations. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you’ll handle pensions and queries and support audits.

The position offers an immediate start, a competitive hourly rate, and potential extension based on business needs within a supportive finance team.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing an end-to-end payroll function.
• Up-to-date knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.
• Experience with pension administration and auto-enrolment.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.
• Strong communication skills with a proactive approach.

Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end payroll process for the organisation.
• Ensure payroll accuracy and deadlines.
• Maintain HMRC compliance and pension regulations.
• Process new starters, leavers and changes.
• Calculate statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP).
• Reconcile payroll control accounts and support month-end.
• Produce payroll reports and year-end documentation (P45s, P60s).
• Administer workplace pensions and auto-enrolment.
• Support internal and external payroll audits.
• Assist with payroll process improvements.
