Job summary

Quantum Scholars is seeking a patient SEND Science Tutor to deliver in-person tuition across Somerset. You will work with children and young people who have additional learning needs, building engaging, accessible lessons and adapting to each learner’s pace.

Candidates with experience in SEND/SEMH, strong communication and safeguarding commitment are preferred; DBS checks will be required. This role is in-person and requires the right to work in the UK.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching or tutoring Science to children or young people.
• Experience working with students with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
• A good understanding of the secondary Science curriculum.
• Experience delivering one-to-one or personalised educational support is desirable.
• The ability to plan and deliver engaging, personalised learning.
• Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check, where required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver one-to-one or small-group Science tuition.
• Plan engaging, accessible and appropriately challenging learning activities.
• Adapt teaching approaches to suit different abilities, learning needs and levels of engagement.
• Help students develop confidence and a positive attitude towards Science.
• Support students to develop independent learning and study skills.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback.
• Build positive, consistent and trusting relationships with students.
• Work collaboratively with parents, carers and relevant professionals where required.
• Maintain clear and professional communication.
• Follow safeguarding procedures at all times.
