Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment are supporting a welcoming primary school in Kettering to recruit a Special Needs Teaching Assistant. You will provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with additional needs, helping them access learning and participate in class activities.

The role involves working with children who may have ASC, ADHD, or speech and language needs, under the guidance of the class teacher. It offers term-time hours with competitive weekly pay and ongoing professional support.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with additional needs is preferred.
• Background in education, childcare, care, healthcare, residential support or youth work.
• Patient, empathetic and able to follow safeguarding procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEN.
• Assist learning, communication and social development.
• Support pupils with ASC, ADHD, speech and language needs and SEMH.
• Collaborate with the class teacher to deliver engaging activities.
• Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation and independence.
• Adapt support to meet individual learning needs.
• Maintain a safe, structured and inclusive classroom environment.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
• Follow individual plans, school policies and safeguarding procedures.
