Job summary

Polaris Community Huddersfield is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 7 to 18 within our school. The role is fixed-term for 12 months, part-time (4 days per week: Mon, Wed, Thu, Fri) during term time, with a pro rata salary.

The successful candidate will work under the guidance of a class teacher, support learning activities, monitor progress and contribute to a nurturing environment. DBS check will be completed at Polaris Community.

Qualifications

  • Strong basic education (minimum GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths) and IT skills.
  • Experience in a similar role (teaching assistant desirable).
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.

Responsibilities

  • Support one pupil or a small group (maximum six).
  • Support the classroom teacher during lessons.
  • Report on progress and concerns, liaising with school staff.
  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom activities and trips.
  • Assist with lesson planning and preparation.
  • Set work and mark where appropriate.
  • Build positive relationships and support learning outcomes.

Salary: 21,257.48 - 23,232.69 (pro rata: 17,005.98 - 18,584.82)
