Job summary

Justteachers is seeking a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in the St Ives area from September 2026 on a long-term basis. The role involves providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN, including ASC and SEMH, to help them access learning and build confidence.

You will implement EHCP targets, work closely with teachers, therapists and support staff, and monitor pupil progress, wellbeing and engagement to foster independence and positive outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience with children or young people with SEN is desirable.
• Patience, resilience and a nurturing approach.
• Understanding of autism, communication needs and behaviour support strategies.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to adapt support to meet individual pupil needs.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
• Right to work in the UK.
• Minimum two professional references covering the past two years.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN.
• Assist in the delivery of personalised learning activities and interventions.
• Support pupils’ social, emotional and communication development.
• Encourage engagement, independence and positive behaviour.
• Implement EHCP targets and individual support strategies.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff.
• Support pupils during transitions and throughout the school day.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, wellbeing and engagement.
